Uncontrolled diabetes can have detrimental effects to foot health. The small blood vessels and nerves in the feet can be damaged over time by high blood glucose levels and can result in slow healing and very poor sensation in the feet. These detrimental changes, if left unrecognised can result in ulcerations and sometimes amputations. It is recommended that a Diabetic Foot Assessment be performed every 12 months. We perform a vascular and neurological foot assessment inclusive of Doppler Ultrasound and Toe-Brachial Index to assess blood flow as well as nerve testing.
